Call to Action for Earth Day

On this Earth Day, 2024, Team Linda wants to share some thoughts that motivate and energize us. We believe that it is the responsibility of this generation to solve climate change. But we also believe that most people want to protect the planet for future generations. So rather than being paralyzed with hopelessness, it is up to all of us to speak up, speak out, lobby, change our own behavior and motivate change. Together, we can move the world.

We can’t afford to do nothing.  We have to act now.

Here are some of our favorite inspirations:

“If every day were Earth Day we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in.”
— Neil deGrasse Tyson, on Earth Day in 2022

The climate emergency is a race we are losing, but it is a race we can win.”
— UN Secretary-General António Guterres

“These young people are saying we all have a right to know what is in the air we breathe, in the water we drink, and the food we eat. It is our responsibility to leave this planet cleaner and greener. That must be our legacy.”
— John Lewis‍

“We can do this. This is the biggest emergent social movement in all of history. We can do this. And if anybody thinks that we don’t have the political will, remember, political will is itself a renewable resource.”
— Al Gore

“Earth Day should encourage us to reflect on what we are doing to make our planet a more sustainable and livable place.”
— Scott Peters“

The earth is what we all have in common.
— Wendell Berry

“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
—Jane Goodall

“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.”
— Robert Swan

To leave the world better than you found it, sometimes you have to pick up other people’s trash.”
— Bill Nye

When enough people come together, then change will come and we can achieve almost anything. So instead of looking for hope — start creating it.”
—Greta Thunberg

So, do something today!

Call your congressman, talk to your community leaders, pick up trash, commit to recycling & buying responsibly, plant a tree, walk to work, make a change in your life.  But above all, speak up and act.  We don’t have to accept the status quo—we have to stop it.  Together, we can lead change.

Help elect a scientist to the Illinois House District 65

Linda Robertson is a passionate environmentalist.  She will fight for clean water, air and energy. She will vote to speed up the transition to renewable energy and to increase energy efficiency.  She will be your voice in Springfield.

She needs your help to flip the district from red to blue. Please consider attending or supporting her upcoming fundraiser.

We invite people who are concerned about climate change to join us at Linda’s Help Save the Planet fundraiser.

See you there!
