Not all climate change news is bad.
Renewable energy is now less expensive and harmful, than coal and oil energy. Electric car batteries are lasting far longer than originally expected, and there are more options for repurposing and recycling them. Research & development teams are working to improve our electrical grid to efficiently provide energy across the country.
So why is St. Charles considering continuing to provide electricity that is 80% coal-generated until 2055?
There are better options. The community wants and deserves cleaner energy for their homes and businesses.
HELP ST. CHARLES SAY “NO” TO COAL ON JUNE 24, 2024, AT 7:00 P.M.
On June 24 at 7 p.m., the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency (IMEA) will try to persuade St. Charles City Council members to renew the City’s IMEA $800 million contract for coal-generated electricity until 2055. The meeting will be held before the Government Services Committee in Council Chambers at the St. Charles City Hall, 2 E. Main Street.
We need to show IMEA and the St. Charles City Council that Tri-Cities residents want and deserve cleaner sources of electricity! Please support our fellow St. Charles League members and energy advocates by attending this meeting!
